Grand Opening of BWC’s Family Resource Center Brings Hope and Support to Local Families in need.
On October 17, 2024, front-line staff and volunteers warmly welcomed guests to the grand opening of the Bill Wilson Center’s Family Resource Center. The air buzzed with excitement as attendees toured the new facility designed to be a safe, welcoming space for families with young children. Volunteers guided visitors through each area, sharing how the center will serve the community.
Mayor Matt Mahan of San Jose honored the occasion with a heartfelt speech, applauding the Bill Wilson Center’s enduring commitment to strengthening families and supporting vulnerable youth. He highlighted the powerful collaboration between donors, volunteers, and partner agencies that made the vision for the center a reality.
As the ribbon was cut, a wave of cheers filled the air, a powerful symbol of hope, renewal, and community spirit. The Bill Wilson Center extends its deepest gratitude to all who contributed to this achievement.
The Family Resource Center is designed as a drop-in support hub where families can access essential services in a safe and respectful environment. Guests will be able to wash clothes, take showers, use computers, watch TV and relax, while children play in designated areas. Families in need will also receive basic necessities such as clothing, diapers, hygiene products, and more all at no cost.
This center is more than a facility it’s a place of dignity, connection, and healing.
